The tensile strength of Ti-22V-4Al wire typically ranges from 900 MPa to 1100 MPa, which is significantly higher than that of common stainless steel wires (approximately 500 MPa to 700 MPa), but slightly lower than that of certain high-strength nickel-based alloy wires (whose strength can exceed 1200 MPa). Nevertheless, Ti-22V-4Al wire boasts excellent specific strength (the ratio of strength to density), and possesses greater load-bearing capacity under the same weight. This characteristic gives it significant advantages in lightweight design.
In terms of fatigue performance, the TB13 titanium alloy wire demonstrates excellent resistance to cyclic loads, making Ti-4Al-22V alloys wire particularly suitable for applications that endure vibration or repetitive stress over a long period, such as sports equipment and precision mechanical components. In contrast, stainless steel wires may experience faster crack propagation in fatigue environments, while nickel-based alloy wires, although having excellent fatigue performance, are more costly.
The production of Ti-22V-4Al is a complex and precise process. The entire process needs to be carried out in a protective atmosphere or vacuum environment to prevent gas contamination. Production begins with a rigorous selection and inspection of raw materials to ensure that all incoming chemical components meet the standard requirements.
Subsequently, the material is melted using a vacuum self-consuming arc furnace (VAR) to obtain a homogeneous Ti-22V-4Al ingot. The ingot undergoes multiple forging and rolling processes to be processed into a Ti-22V-4Al rod.
Ti-22V-4Al bar is gradually reduced in diameter to the target size through the drawing process. During this process, multiple intermediate annealing treatments are required to eliminate work hardening and restore the material's plasticity.
Finally, the surface of the Ti-22V-4Al welding wire is cleaned to remove oxide scales and oil stains, and then it is wound and packaged to complete the preparation.
