Packaging, storage and transportation requirements for vanadium target materials
Vanadium targets (vanadium sputtering targets), as high-purity metallic materials, must strictly follow specific specifications during packaging, storage and transportation to ensure their surface cleanliness, structural integrity and chemical stability. In terms of packaging, vanadium targets need to be encapsulated in an inert gas environment (such as argon or nitrogen) to prevent oxidation. Double-layer packaging is adopted: the inner layer is an anti-static and dust-free polyethylene bag or aluminum foil bag, which is sealed after vacuuming. The outer layer is reinforced with hard plastic boxes or wooden cases. The surface of vanadium target materials is covered with anti-scratch protective film or soft padding (such as lint-free paper, foam) to prevent physical damage. The packaging box is filled with shock-absorbing materials (such as foam or bubble wrap) to ensure that the vanadium target material does not shake during transportation. Large-sized vanadium target materials need to be fixed to the bottom of the packaging box with bolts or slots to prevent displacement or toppling. The outer packaging should be marked with labels such as "Fragile", "Moisture-proof", "upward arrow", etc., and indicate the material name, purity (such as 99.95%), weight, batch number and production date.
The storage environment for vanadium target materials must strictly control temperature and humidity. It is recommended that the temperature be between 10 and 30°C and the humidity be no more than 50% to avoid condensation or high temperature accelerating oxidation. Target materials should be stored in a dust-free room or clean cabinet, away from corrosive environments such as acids, alkalis, and salt spray. At the same time, direct sunlight should be avoided, and the air in the warehouse should be kept circulating to prevent pollution from volatile organic compounds. When storing, vanadium target materials should be placed vertically or flat on dedicated supports to avoid deformation caused by stacking. Small-sized vanadium target materials can be stored in layers on anti-static shelves, isolated from metal materials such as copper and iron to prevent electrochemical corrosion. When stored for a long time, it is necessary to check the packaging sealing and storage environment every three months, replace the desiccant regularly, record the time of entry into the warehouse and the test data, and give priority to using the earlier batches.
During transportation, shock-resistant vehicles or temperature-controlled containers should be given priority to avoid jolts or sharp temperature fluctuations. It is strictly prohibited to mix with chemicals, flammable and explosive materials. The vehicle compartment must be clean and dry. When loading and unloading, handle with care. Do not throw, roll or apply heavy pressure to the packaging box. Use forklifts or hoisting equipment to ensure that the target materials are evenly stressed. Transportation requires the provision of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and material proof, which must comply with international transportation standards. If the vanadium target material contains radioactivity or special forms (such as nano-powder), additional declaration and compliance with dangerous goods transportation regulations are required.
Vanadium target material operation and emergency handling: When handling vanadium target materials, dust-free gloves must be worn to avoid direct contact with the surface of the vanadium target materials and prevent contamination by grease or sweat. If the packaging is damaged, it needs to be repackaged in a clean environment and the surface of the vanadium target material should be inspected for oxidation or scratches. When receiving the goods, it is necessary to check the integrity of the packaging and test parameters such as the surface roughness and purity of the target material to ensure that the material meets the requirements. By strictly following the above-mentioned packaging, storage, transportation and operation requirements, the performance of vanadium target materials can be effectively guaranteed, their service life can be prolonged and losses can be reduced.
